ReplyDeleteThis year I wasn't able to be with my Mom. Last year she was down here with us and we had a lovely dinner out together as a family. Today since my hubby is away, it was just me and my boys. Even though it was different from our 'normal' it was very nice. They made me breakfast, we had an early dinner out and they gave me some crafting time so I could participate in some of MPS challenges!

Hi Rexann, I'm a follower and have a blog award for you on my blog.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great giveaway!! My favorite thing to do on mothers day (after spending time with the kids of course), is to find a nice quiet place to read uniterrupted!
How cool-a Web Cam! I am a new follower! Thank you for visiting my blog. I will be sharing your giveaway on my FB page under kimmarie baker. I combined NSD and Mother's Day for a crafty weekend. I went out to breakfast and dinner on Mother's Day with my family. Thanks for the chance of winning. ReplyDeleteHi Rexann!
ReplyDeleteI'm a part time follower, sorry, just busy with kids and all, hard to keep up!
Anyway, this web cam would be an AWESOME way for me to keep up with my daughter who is going away to Wisconsin for 6 weeks this summer to the Milwaukee Ballet Company's Summer Dance Intensive! I'm trying to get my old laptop ready for her to take with her, but it doesn't have a built in camera like my new one does.
A fond memory from my childhood is when my mom made us matching pantsuits (yes, it was the 70's!). It was she and my grandmother who inspired me to learn to sew. :)
Thanks for the opportunity! See you around a crop soon I hope!!
Rexann, what a SWEET giveaway!! I love that you're giving someone the ability to keep in touch (face-to-face) with your gift -- How awesome!!
ReplyDeleteFor me, Mother's Day is about spending time with my kiddos -- Doesn't really matter what we do (though I do enjoy getting breakfast in bed!) as long as we are together -- This year, my son was still away at college, so he sent me a youtube video with a song he wrote and sang!! It was AWESOME (and I think you got to see it!) and it was a way for me to spend time with him even though he was far away... My daughter and I spent a beautiful day outside working on the lawn -- Even though that might not sound TOO fun, it really was a special time being able to work alongside each other... Being a mom is the most important thing to me -- My children are a wonderful gift, and each Mother's Day, I am reminded of that...
As for my mom -- pretty sure you know I think she's wonderfully fantastic -- And we always plan a special trip to visit her (this year we were just waiting until my son could go too)... Again, doesn't matter what we get to do, as long as we're together.
Thanks for reminding me of how blessed I am!! :)
I am happy to already be one of your followers!! :)

My four kids decided to treat me to a huge round of fighting. Just like any other day. One of these days they will get along or so I keep telling myself. Is it because they are all 13 or because three of them are girls?

What I did on Mother's Day is go to the cemetery to visit the grave of my mom and lay flowers. She loved flowers. I remember as a child she would try and grow different flowers and trees (mind you this is the same woman who bought a dogwood tree and planted it and it was a pussy willow)and she was so happy when she finally got sun flowers to grow. They were her pride and joy and one day she looked out the window over the sink and her sunflower was gone. She yelled thinking either I or my brothers picked her flower head but we swore we didn't touch it. She was down that her pretty flower was gone. Later in the day she was once again doing something at the sink and she glanced out the window then started laughing. She said she was sorry for yelling at us for picking it and she knows we didn't do it because she just saw who did it since he came back for the next sunflower. We didn't know what she was talking about and why she wasn't yelling at him since he is there picking the next. She told us to quietly look out the window so we all did and there in front of us was a squirrel who jumped up on the wooden fence and reached up to grab the big sunflower head and chewed off the stem. Once that was done the head would fall to the ground and the squirrel would try and drag this head away with him. Poor thing, the head was so big the squirrel really got a work out. Mom wasn't mad any longer and we all got a laugh out of it.

This mothers day...Relaxed. Actually, it's the first in 22 years that I had a total day to do what I wanted with no one around topull me here there and every where.....If my kids had been able to be here in town, we would have had a huge Brunch with all the families, then my girls and I would have planted a rose bush or started the garden up. It's our yearly thing to do. They did call, text, face booked, and sent messages through their dad. Flowers with a fancy tea pot was a wonderful gift.

Am now a follower of your blog. My Mother's Day 2011, was spent just relaxing with my 3 children, (21, 19, 15 yrs. old). It started by all of us attending an amazing Church service, then eating and watching movies, playing board games, and just talking. I like this type of day, because of all the laughter and good times. Yes, I received great gifts, but it was the time together that meant the most. jordanbev5@yahoo.com

Aloha again,
ReplyDeleteI must say this mother's day was quite diferent from the last 5 years because we had just move to San Diego last Aug. Pass couple of years in HI we were always doing the same thing. Having this big Luau at my parents house. All the kids spending quailty time with grandma and great grandma. But since I move here in SD and I'm not in HI :( this year hubby made chargrill oyster and ribs (yummy). Since I am close with my parents It's quite not the same without having my family but I guess that's the the sacrifice we have to make being in the military.
Having to win this webcam would be perfect to use on skype so I can see my family all the time that would be really nice... Thanks for the chance to win.
I'm also having a my first blog candy giveaway

Rexanne, hi!! WOW This really looked like a GREAT giveaway!! Thanks for leaving such a thoughtful comment on my blog. I really appreciate it. I love Bremerton, it's very pretty and peaceful! Are there many scrapbooking stores in Bremerton? Which store do you work at? I may have to take a little mini field trip and come visit you to say hi! :) I LOVED working in retail because of the discounts. I used to work at The Paper Zone before it got big, like ten years ago. Boy, half my paycheck at LEAST went back to the store!!! Ha ha! :) I'll be posting some more reviews on local scrapbook stores here shortly. I also have a youtube channel that I'll be posting some hauls on. The channel is a mix of everything tho, so there's some non-related stuff on there. :) Anyways, if you can ever make it to Seattle, or I go to Bremerton, we should get together for a lunch and a scrapbook fest! What do you think???

My fav memory of the Mother would be how wonderful of a seamstress she was and for Prom when we could not afford a store-bought dress she sewed me one. We celebrated Father's Day for my hubby at Texas Roadhouse restaurant. I gifted hubby a griddle & cologne. I gifted daughter a babycakes donut maker. I always gift daughter Father's Day & Mother's Day since she is the reason we celebrate those days.

Even thoug my mother is gone I feel her around me when I am at the places we loved to go together. Later my two wonderful children and there familys came to visit. Thaks for the chance to win
ReplyDeletejennyplace26@gmail.com
Wow whata a nice give away.
ReplyDeleteMy family started a tradition the year my daughter got married. She decided that she would hold a get together at her house for a Kabob barbecue. My parents, husband and I being invited. Her husband barbecues different meats. All of the other goodies are cut up and ready, but it your responsibility to create your own Kabob and then the guys do the grilling. It is a fun way to spend the day. Last year though we added an extra day by going on a trip to a local small steam engine train ride. It is kid's size. The track is 1 mile long. My parents had fun though riding along with my their great grandson. I love the fact that we can get together with 4 generations, since most of my time with my mom on mother's day consisted of her working. She was a waitress and never got off on holidays. I would always make her a chocolate cake though. I did this on Friday nights as well. I would stay up and when she came home at midnight she would get warm chocolate cake. She loved that.

Hi Rexann,
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog. Your blog is great! For father's day this year my husband took the boys dirt biking. I stayed home and scrapbooked. I hosted Mother's day at my house and had to do all the cooking myself because my husband had carpal tunnel surgery on the Friday before mom's day..... so I guess my spending the day scrapbooking on Dad's day was my mom's day gift. LOL
Following your blog now!

our favorite way to celebrate both mother's day and father's day is just getting together with our children and grand children. we are lucky enough to have all of them living close enough to make this possible.

Having had 7 kids herself, as you can imagine, this is a huge get togeather! Lots of fun and love made for a great Mother's Day for all the moms! New follwer and posted on facebook:)
ReplyDeleteI am totally new to blogs! I shared your blog on facebook. You have some wonderful gift for your give a way. It's always nice to hear from the kids on Mothers Day, or if we can, get together for some good food! One on my most vivid memories of Mothers Day was the last one I spent with my mom in her nursing home. She could still recognize me, and we enjoyed the day together. With my dad, he is in his 80's so I always make sure he has something really good to eat for Fathers day.

I love your blog and have become a follower! I found you on Going Buggy's blog. I do not have a blog but will post this on my facebook page and help spread the word. My email is: smarch at wildblue dot net. I have many wonderful memories of my Mom and Dad who've been gone for a while now, but I will never forget the look on their faces when a white limo pulled up to take them away to a surprise 50th Anniversary party with family and friends. They always worked hard and raised 6 children so this was a totally different experience. They just beamed through the whole party!! Thanks for this opportunity to win some wonderful candy! Hugs, Sharon :o)
ReplyDeleteawesome giveaway you have going on here :) im having lots of trouble on your (and others) blogs.. the screen does this terrible hopping up and down kinda thing..and for some reason i cant view any of your picture postings. the text and your side bar stuff shows up thats it.. do you have any suggestions so i can see your wonderful creations?
ReplyDeletei shared your generous giveaway post on facebook
as for memories well, my dad passed just a few months ago so this year was very difficultas of course i have been flooded with many many memories and thoughts of my dad. as im crafting i think of me and him sitting at the kitchen table when i was a teenager, i was doing my art class homework and was "stuck", it wasnt until then i discovered my dad was very artistic. he was always so busy working and trying to give our family a nice comfy home he didnt show that side to us. in fact i was the only one of us kids that experienced that with him. it made me feel extra special :)
hope you have a super fun and safe 4th! xxshelly

Wow!! Your candy keeps growing and growing!!!
ReplyDeleteI think the best memory with my mom, was the last night she was "alive." (I use that word in quotes because she actually passed a few days later when we had to take her off a ventilator.) She was happy and healthy and my uncle, her brother, came up to Port Orchard to visit from Texas. Me and my kids went over to visit with him and my mom. We played games and we laughed until we cried. The next day, she was on a ferry, and had an asthma attack she never recovered from. She officially left us a few days later. Even though it isn't a Mother's Day memory, it's the one I like to think about most when I'm missing her.
Okay, enough depressing stuff! I've been a follower for a while and I've posted your candy on my blog's candy page.
Have a GREAT 4th!!!!
